“Hope” is a word with universal appeal. It is a word that bombarded the political landscape this past year in the United States as many searched for hope for the future. As humans we seem innately driven towards hope and yet often search for it in all the wrong places. We tend to place our hope in people, governments, economic systems, friends, family and even ourselves – all of which can dash our hopes and leave us feelin g confused, broken, empty, and alone. For so many around the world these uncertain economic times have only added to a feeling of insecurity and a hunger for something to have hope in. For many in Romania , especially the rural villages where we minister, many left Romania to search for employment and hope in Western Europe . Now that the economic downturn has effected Western Europe – those that are no longer needed for employment are coming back to Romania, with hopes dashed and little to no prospect of employment at home. This Easter will be an especially important time to demonstrate the love of Christ and the true hope that can be found in the Savior! We will distribute much needed and much appreciated food staples to over 225 families with an Easter devotional and Christian literature pointing the way to the true hope that can be found in the risen Savior. The team will also distribute nearly 1,000 gifts to children and staff in Placement Centers and children in Village Bible Clubs.
