Our Mission

To embrace orphans, widows and families in desperate need with the love of Christ, ease their suffering, and restore hope.

Our Hope is in the Power of God Working in the Hearts of People...

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

Hidden in Plain Sight

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit"

Jana.jpg Each of us has experienced that feeling of being invisible even if we were in a crowded room or surrounded by people we know or even in our own homes. For the family pictured below there are a thousand people each day that drive on the busy road that is just 100 yards from the shack they live in, including me. But, this past April as the Easter team was busily on our way distributing gifts of hope and love to over 1,500 children and families in need, one team member kept noticing this shack as we would drive by each morning. She listened to that little voice that said, ‘help them, feed them’, and that’s just what we did. At the prompting of the Holy Spirit we purchased a substantial amount of food and pulled the van to the side of the road turned on the emergency flashers and crossed the ditch and up an embankment to bring a gift of love to a family that is hidden in plain sight. We learned the father is a day laborer when he can find work, there are two children ages 2 and 7, and the mother prostitutes herself when they don’t have enough food; she was already down in the town when we delivered the food. As we placed the boxes of food inside the two room shack Iulian told the bewildered father and children that we had come because of Jesus’ love for them, soft tears filled the father’s worn eyes. The father told Iulian where the Gloria.jpgmother was and we drove in that direction. Iulian spotted her and told her, “you can go home; this week there is plenty of food for you to stay home”. She thanked him and immediately started walking home. A week later we stopped by with pillows and blankets and another opportunity to share the love of Christ. This visit we were greeted with warm smiles and a reminder that for every hopeless situation or broken heart there is hope found in Jesus. While the majority of HHMI programs are carefully planned to provide weekly or consistent ministry there are times when the Lord prompts us to respond to those He brings into our path or as in this case to notice those who have been right in ‘plain sight’.

Gift From the Heart Easter Program – encouraging those most in need with needed food and compassion.

Pictured at left team member and HHMI Board member, Steve Brune provides food staples in our village distribution program. Many elderly recipients express words of thanksgiving and blessings as they come through the line – often provoking tears in both eyes! At right, is Steve’s wife, Marilyn at one of the Village Bible Club distributions – the girl is wearing her camp T-shirt from 3 years ago!

One of the most encouraging sites is to see children taking out their Christian book and reading the stories that point them towards the Savior! While the fresh fruit and chocolates may be gone in a short time, we pray for God’s Word to be imprinted on their heart. Thank you to all who contributed to the Gift from the Heart Easter program and those giving to where most needed that allows us to meet immediate needs.
